Thy Womb

Thy Womb (Sinapupunan in Tagalog) is one of the 8 official entries of 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival. Thy Womb is written by Henry Burgos and directed by Brillante Mendoza, an awarded winning director for the 2009 Cannes Festival. Thy Womb was first released last September 6, 2012 during the Venice Film Festival. Thy Womb is a drama film starring Ms Nora Aunor as Shaleha, Bembol Roco as Bangas-An, Lovi Poe as Mersila and Mercedes Cabral as Aisha. This film will be released again on December 25, 2012 as one one of the competing films for MMFF 2012 to be produce by Center Stage Productions and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

Thy Womb movie already won three special prizes in the following: festival-La Navicella Venezia Cinema Award, P. Nazareno Taddei Award - Special Mention, and the Bisato d' Oro Award for Best Actress (for Ms Nora Aunor). The story is about Shaleha (Nora Aunor), a Badjao midwife from the far land of Tawi-Tawi. She is a community-deprived woman because of her incapability in bearing a child. Situation is really playful. Shaleha is a medium in delivering a new life for others yet she herself can’t produce her own offspring.

 Thy Womb spoken languages are Tagalog, Sinama, Tausug, Arabic and English. Ms Nora Aunor’s unfading charisma in acting to the viewers is still a big hit for so many years.
