Another entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival is the movie
entitled “My House Husband”. From Octo Art Films and under the direction of
Jose Javier Reyes. The movie stars’ Ryan Agoncillo, Judy Ann Santos, Agot
Isidro, Eugene Domingo, Francine Prieto, Miriam Qiambao, Roco Nacino, Renz
Valerio, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez.
Ryan Agoncillo portrays the role of Rod Alvarez, a bank
manager and Judy Ann Santos as Mia Alvarez opted to remain as housewife to take
care of their two children- Migo and kaye- with an occasional sideline of
selling insurance. Mia gave up her promising career in sales because Rod wanted
to be the padre de familia. But when a large bank merged with Rod’s employer,
he found himself out of work. Unable to qualify in a scarce job market it leave
him to be trapped at home and Mia to be working again. In the process, Rod
learns to do the housework. As he begins to adjust, Mia’s career in selling
insurance begin to blossom. While at home, Rod befriends their next neighbour
named Aida (Eugene Domingo),as everybody knows a kept woman of a rich man who
would occasionally visit her and her son at night. Despite of bad opinions
hurled against Aida, Rod discovered a completely different woman. These is
where Rod starts to realize and understand things, that there is nobility being
the caregiver of the family as well as the manager of the household. And in
return, Rod slowly opens the eye of Aida that she cannot depend on anybody
except herself to fend for survival. And as Rod and Aida’s friendship
intensifies, Mia felt suspicious in their neighbour’s intentions.
My house husband is a drama comedy movie that aims to give
moviegoers mutual respect for the both sexes.Its about men learning to do
housework because of economic, financial and practical necessities. It is not a
sequel to the previous Ryan-Juday movie Kasal, Kasali, kasalo and Sakal,
Sakali, Saklolo. It isa very different movie although it follows more less the
same kind of approach.
